Five Foundations of Islam

Shahadah - Testimony that There is no god but The God, Muhammad is the Messenger of God.
Salat – Muslims’ prayer.
- Fajr – before sunrise.
- Zuhr – Mid-day prayer as sun moves away from its peak position.
- Asr – Late afternoon prayer.
- Maghrib – Evening prayer, right after sunset.
- Isha – Nightly prayer.
- Jumma – Means Friday. Every week on Friday, Zuhr, the mid-day prayer is substituted by a congressional prayer hold in the mosque.
- Janazah - Burial prayer. When a Muslim dies, other Muslims gather to offer a special prayer.
Zakat- Rich Muslims, once a year pay a fraction of their income to poor people.
Saum: (Fasting)(Arabic Saum Persian Rozah) A period of 30 days, in the month of Ramadan of every year. Consumption of food or water, sexual relations with ones husband/wife is forbidden from sunrise till sunset
Hajj: Anual pilgrimage
